Worlds tallest Filing Cabinet.jpg

This past week my wife Emily and I traveled to Vermont to celebrate our honeymoon. Our wedding was wayyyyyy back in August but we decided to wait awhile for the leaves to turn beautiful on the east coast to take our trip. We stayed four night in Burlington Vermont and had the opportunity to see the vibrant fall colors AND THE WORLDS TALLEST FILING CABINET! Can you believe it?! I highly reccomend visiting this landmark if you have the opportunity. There are also several breweries within walking distance that are worth visiting while you are in the area. Zero Gravity Craft Brewery was one of our favorite stops. Try the Conehead and you won't be disappointed.

The fall color adventure continues next weekend when I head to Devils Lake Wisconsin on a climbing trip with the Iowa State Mountaineering and Climbing Club!

Bozeman and Banff

I'm finally getting around to posting photos from our spring break trip to Bozeman Montana and Banff Canada. It's been a hellish few weeks since we got back and I finally caught my breath. Jacob, Arin and I spent 9 days ice climbing in Hyalite Canyon and Banff national park. It was a really great adventure and every day was something different. We met a ton of great people along the way even though we didn't find Conrad Anker. We would all go back for more.

New Zealand

For winter break 2016 my family took a vacation to the south island of New Zealand. This is my brother and I on the summit of Mt. Lodestone. We spent 2 hours hiking almost straight up hill and in to a cloud. There are supposed to be spectacular view of the city of Nelson from here, but we saw a lot of fog and not many people.

The Grand Teton

On July 26, 2016 I summited The Grand Teton via the Upper Exum route with my good friend and climbing partner Reba McCracken. It was a speedy trip as I was driving from Oregon to Wisconsin with Emily and Steve but we made time to drive through Yellowstone National Park and do a little climbing.

Mt. Elbert

Together with 3 other members of the Iowa State Mountaineering and Climbing Club, we summited Mt. Elbert on May 11, 2016. It took two attempts as we the weather turned on us the day after we arrived in Colorado but with blue skies we managed to reach the top on the second attempt. Seen above is our decent route as  we slid on our butts down 500 feet of powdery snow.

London to Paris Cycle

On April 13, 2016 three friends and I set out to attempt to cycle from London to Paris on 24 hours. Due to a variety of factors including poor weather and many popped tubes we didn't all make it to Paris but we learned a lot along the way. It was also proof that you can make it from Iowa to London and back by only missing two days of school. Next time we'll bring a better navigator...

Joshua Tree

In January of 2016 my friend and climbing partner Josh Bunzel set out to Joshua Tree National Park for a week of trad climbing and photography. We managed to dodge the rain most days (who would have thought it rains in the desert...). I led some of the hardest trad climbs I ever had and Josh put up his first trad lead.
